    The Flomaton Town Council voted to keep the dumpster behind town hall for the time being and will install cameras to be monitored by dispatchers to catch and prosecute illegal dumpers with a fine of up to $500. The dumpster is designed to be used by Flomaton residents only and is only designed for debris not household garbage, tires, chemicals or electronics.   • Advertising begins for delinquent property tax

    Escambia County (Ala.) Tax Collector Tim Pettis began advertising this week on about 400 parcels of land that will be sold at a public auction due to failure to pay property taxes by the Dec. 31 deadline. The tax sale is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, in front of the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. Pettis said the 400 parcels represent about $145,000 in delinquent taxes.   • County Road 168 will get new bridge, expect detour

    In April, the Florida Department of Transportation will replace the structurally deficient bridge on County Road 168 over Unnamed Branch, northwest of Century. The new bridge will consist of two 12-foot travel lanes with 6-foot shoulders and a concrete barrier wall. The anticipated completion date is winter 2019. The construction cost is $1.9 million.     A Jay man was arrested for possession of weapon March 25 during a routine traffic stop after law enforcement discovered the man was a convicted felon and had a firearm in the vehicle. Commission is asking the public to join the Earth Week project April 20 through April 27 by picking up trash along road rights-of-way with the week ending the annual Earth Day Clean Up on Saturday, April 27.
