A Brewton man was jailed on felony charges of rape I and sodomy I for allegedly forcing a minor girl to have sex on multiple occasions. Joseph Locke Nance, 23, 7118 Sowell Road, faces a possible sentence of 20 years to life if convicted as charged on the two Class A felonies. The Flomaton Fire Department will be adding an additional firetruck after the town council voted Monday afternoon to purchase a used truck from the Appleton Fire Department. Mayor Dewey Bondurant, Jr., said he had talked with Fire Chief Steve Stanton and said the chief was OK with the town purchasing the used truck for $2,500. A benefit for Flomaton resident Gentry Garrett will be held Saturday, July 30, at O'Bannon Park in Brewton with a full day of fun, games and food. Gentry, 2, was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and has spent most of his life in the hospital.
