    Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff Grover Smith announced he will not seek re-election in 2018 which will bring an end to his nearly 46-year law enforcement career. A native of Conecuh County, Smith, 67, has been a resident of the Brewton area since 1969 and began his law enforcement career as patrol officer for the Flomaton Police Department in 1973.
