Audrey M. Turner, 73, of Anniston, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 in Atmore.
Mrs. Turner was a native of Detroit, Mich. who grew up in Atmore and graduated from Escambia County Training School in 1961. She relocated to Anniston, Ala. and later attended Alabama A & M University in Normal, Ala. She worked with Mason's Department Store, K-Mart and the R.L. Polk Co. before she began working in 1979 with Children's Services at Constantine Daycare Center as a teacher, then as asst. director, then as director until the school closed in 1995. Retiring in 2014 as a case aid with Department of Human Resources, she was the president of Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Anniston with Revs. Carlton Phillips and E. Baxter Morris officiating. Burial followed at Maple Grove Cemetery in Anniston with Turner Funeral Chapel Directing.
Mrs. Turner is survived by one son, Louie Turner, III, of Atmore; one daughter, Alicia D. Turner of Anniston; one brother, Cornelius Gund of Detroit; one sister, Thomasa Zeigler of Detroit; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Turner, Jr.; one daughter, Crystal Lynn Turner; her parents, Robert Lee Ames and Maxcine Zeigler; one brother, Emmett Zeigler, Jr.; one grandparent, Parie Lee Ames Crow; and other family members.
