Mary Louise Quarker McMillan

Mary Louise Quarker McMillan, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at Atmore Community Hospital.

Mrs. McMillan was a native of Putnam, Ala., and resident of Atmore for most of her life. A retired employee with Masland Carpet Co., she was a member of Mt. Gillead Baptist Church, then the Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church. In 1988, her husband organized the Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served and worked.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church in Atmore with Rev. Carnell Otis and Pastor Darlene McMillan officiating. Burial followed at Pierce-Rabb Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.

Mrs. McMillan is survived by her children, Willie (Linda) McMillan of Beulah, Fla., Faye (James) Pettway, Renee Parker and Teresa Norman, all of Atmore, Jerry (Flora) McMillan of Detroit, Valerie (Terrell) Jones of Birmingham and Michael (Teresa) Norman of Montgomery; one brother, William Quarker of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Emma Lancaster of Brewton, and Marcetta McCreary and Thelma Boykins, both of Los Angeles; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Mrs. McMillan was preceded in death by her husband, Purvis McMillan, Sr.; one son, Purvis McMillan, Jr.; her parents, Shelley L. and Annie Bell Quarker; six brothers, James, Charlie, Shelley, Roy, Robert and Kenneth Quarker; three sisters, Rosa Lee Sharpe, Flora Crawley and Rosa Maryland; and two grandchildren.
