Commission leadership remains unchanged

By unanimous vote Monday morning, the Escambia County (Ala.) Commission agreed to stay status quo with its leadership by reappointing Raymond Wiggins as its chairman and Larry White as its vice chairman.

On a motion by Commissioner Brandon Smith and a second by Commissioner David Quarker, Wiggins and White were reappointed for another year.

"I'm willing if it's the wish of the commission," Wiggins said before the vote was taken. "It's been an honor and privilege."

Following the vote, Wiggins thanked his fellow commissioners saying he's enjoyed serving as chairman for the past two years and looks forward to working with the commission during 2018.

In other business Monday, the commission approved an amendment to its 2017-18 budget to include the revenue the county will receive when it auctions off a fleet of dump trucks.

County Clerk-Administrator Tony Sanks said the expense of purchasing new trucks was included in the budget but the revenue the county will receive from selling the old trucks was not.
