John “Frank” Franklin Cotten, 79, of Brewton, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2017 in a Pensacola hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Cotten was a native of Coffeeville, Ala. and former resident of Tuskegee who became a long time resident of Brewton. A graduate of Coffeeville High School, Livingston University and Troy State University, he retired as head coach and principal at T.R. Miller High School and served on the Brewton City Council for 28 years. Employed as a car salesman at Jim Peach Motors, he was a member of Brewton First Baptist Church.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at Brewton First Baptist Church with Revs. John Finklea and Cavin Cawthon officiating, Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams-Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Cotten is survived by one son, Robbie (Margaret) Cotten of Brewton; one daughter, Kim (Wesley) Brittain of Brewton; two brothers, Charles Cotten, Jr. of Greenwood, S.C. and James Buddy Cotten of Coffeeville; one sister, Faye Cotten of Jackson, Ala.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Cotten was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Cotten.
