The Flomaton Lions will host a presentation by Margaret Silbernagle and Jena White Turner who will share about the need for foster homes and adoption in Escambia County (Ala.) at their next meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23. The meeting will be held at the Flomaton Methodist Church, located at 504 Palafox St., instead of Flomaton Community Center.
Former and current foster and adoptive parents Silbernagle and Turner will discuss various aspects of the foster system and the desperate need for foster and adoptive homes.
Silbernagle and others are working to establish a home in Escambia County over the next five years for children in the foster care system that will provide them a temporary living situation until a more permanent 'forever' home or return to their own homes occurs.
“I'm very excited about this presentation because Lionism is all about service and there is no greater need that service to our children,” said Flomaton Lions Club President Ruth Harrell. “So we are presenting this program to inform people of our high incidence of need for foster and adoptive parents in this area. I look forward to seeing people there to demonstrate the interest our community has in its children with needs.”
