Vernon L. Nyce, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2018.
Mr. Nyce grew up in Bucks County, Pa. and married and moved to upstate New York in the Finger Lakes region. He and a few others started Seneca Community Church and he farmed, eventually acquiring more than 1000 acres. He later moved to Alabama where he could farm on a smaller scale. After a return to Pennsylvania to take care of his parents, he came back to Atmore in 2008.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at Freemanville Community Cemetery with Bro. Jim Weber and Bro. Anthony Swartzendruber officiating. Burial followed with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Nyce is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Stover Nyce; one son, Darren (Rhoda Valpatice) Nyce; one daughter, Leann Stover Nyce; four grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members.
Mr. Nyce was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Grace Nyce; and one sister, Ruth Ann Frederick.
