Kyle is accused of attempting to smuggle drugs to her jailed son
A mother has joined her son in jail after the 50-year old Flomaton woman was arrested for trying to sneak drugs to her son who is being held in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
Faye M. Kyle, 151 Pecan Grove Lane, was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with three counts of promoting prison contraband, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Kyle is being held in jail on $100,000 bond. Her son, Steven Lloyd Billiot, whose last address was listed as 151 Pecan Grove Lane, also remains in the detention center on $300,000 bond on charges of assault II and violation of probation.
According to reports filed with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, on Jan. 10, Kyle came to the detention center with a pair of shoes intended for another inmate. Correctional officers inspected the tennis shoes and discovered methamphetamine, marijuana and spice sewn into the tongue and top edge of the shoes. Officers suspect the drugs were intended for Billiot.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said correctional officers felt something in the shoes that wasn't consistent with normal shoes and found the illegal drugs. Lambert also noted the case remains under investigation.
Billiot has been housed in the county jail since March. He was originally arrested and charged with attempted murder, but the charge was reduced to assault II by an Escambia County grand jury.
