Burl Hagood Dixon, 95, of East Brewton, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 in a Pensacola hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Dixon was a native and lifelong resident of the Brewton and East Brewton area. A1940 T.R. Miller High School graduate, he was a retired U.S. Navy veteran who had served during Pearl Harbor with 23 years of service. A member of the East Brewton First Baptist Church, he retired as a mail carrier with 20 years of service.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21, at East Brewton First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Watts and Pastor Brian Dixon officiating. Burial followed with full military honors at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Mr. Dixon is survived by one son, Tim (Elaine) Dixon of Bradley, Ala.; one daughter, Laura (Doug) Kervin of Brewton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Kaye Martin; four brothers, Clifford Dixon, Fred Dixon, Frank Dixon and Vernon Dixon; and one sister, Gertrude Dixon.
