Robert Earl Tolbert, Sr., 80, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 in Pensacola.
Mr. Tolbert was a native of Evergreen, Ala. and former resident of Jay who had resided in Santa Rosa Beach for the past two years. An avid fisherman and gardener, he was a member of Poplar Dell Baptist Church.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Poplar Dell Baptist Church with Revs. Mitch Herring and Willie Oglesbee officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Dell Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Tolbert is survived by two sons, Robert E. (Patricia) Tolbert, Jr., of Jay and Freddie (Karen) Tolbert of Santa Rosa Beach; one daughter, Brenda (Jimmy) Gallagher of Winnsboro, La.; three sisters, Rose Richardson and Abbie Smith, both of Flomaton, and Sara Weaver of Pensacola; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Tolbert; his parents, Ed and Ethel Tolbert; four brothers, Bill Tolbert, john Tolbert, Franklin Tolbert and Chester Tolbert; and three sisters, Irene Barlow, Gladys Smith and Estelle Ates.
