Republican Congressman Bradley Byrne of Alabama is currently accepting applications for summer interns in his Washington, D.C. and Mobile offices. Applicants should be current college students or recent college graduates. The deadline to apply is February 16, 2018.
The application can be found online at Byrne.House.Gov/Internships. Preference will be given to applicants who reside in Alabama’s First Congressional District but all are welcome to apply.
The Internship Program offers students a real-life glance at how the federal legislative branch operates and gives students practical work experience.
Interns will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Congressman and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and draft constituent responses on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.
Internships are available between mid-May and early-August.
