James Edward Owens, 88, of Jay, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.
Mr. Owens was born in Jay and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he worked for more than 30 years in aviation maintenance at Naval Air Station in Pensacola. He was a member of Jay First Baptist Church and served there as a deacon for many years.
Mr. Ownes is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Stuckey Owens; three sons, Gary (Judy) Owens, Larry (Ramona) Owens and Ricky (Sabrina) Owens; one brother, Kenny (Nita) Owens; three sisters, JoAnne Savage, Jimmie Dean (Alex) Hill and Carol (Jimmy) Turberville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Estelle Campbell Owens; and one brother, Steve Owens.
