Eric Seib gave an update at Jay’s council of the town's plan to utilize 'ice pigging' to flush out the cast iron pipes following a recent workshop.
Ice pigging involves pushing icy sludge water of a particular consistency through pipes to remove sediment without damaging the interior of the pipe walls.
Seib said they requested a quote from a company called Suez that can use a software program to determine the location and quality of pipes.
The process could take up to six trucks full of crushed ice at approximately $2,000 a truck.
Mayor Shon Owens said the town has 2-inch and 6-inch pipes needing to be flushed and that if they can determine which pipes have the worst sediment using the software, they could do it by truckload and linear feet which would be the most-effective way.
Livestock Market
Seib reported to the council that the town has received one full bid on the Livestock Market.
He said the prisoners have gotten started in the hog barn and have cleared the foliage away from the exterior. The next step is to demolish the livestock barn.
