Robert Lewis Florie, 78, of Flomaton, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at a Pensacola health care facility.
Mr. Florie was born in Screven, Ga. and had been a member of the Flomaton community since 1959, when he relocated from Georgia. Working as a medical technician at Abernathy Memorial Hospital in Flomaton, he later volunteered for Covenant Hospice, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society. He was a member of the Escambia County Health Coalition, Flomaton Railroad Museum and was named Flomaton's Citizen of the Year 2009. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Flomaton.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, at Flomaton Funeral home Chapel with Dr. Tim Tew and Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Florie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Florie of Flomaton; one daughter, Larisa (Ricky) Perry of New Jersey; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Florie was preceded in death by one son, Robert Ken Florie; his parents, David R. and Rema E. Morgan Florie; and one grandchild.
