John Coley Dixon, 79, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Dixon was born in Dixonville, Ala., where he lived most of his life, before moving to Mobile nine years ago. Retired as a millwright from the box factory at T.R. Miller Mill Company. He was the first charter member of the Dixonville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Brewton Pentcostal Holiness Church.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m.,. Saturday, March 10, at Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church with Revs. Byrnes Pitts George Riek, Johnny Cardwell and Pastor Jacob Watts officiating. Burial followed at Dixonville Cemetery with Cravers's Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Dixon is survived by one daughter, Rachel Dixon (Michael) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Cardwell Dixon; his parents, T.C. and Lillie Gray Dixon; two brothers, Richard Dixon and Malvin Dixon; and other extended family members.
