Jay continues to address its water

The water problem in Jay is being addressed in an ongoing flushing system to clear the lines, but the buildup of lime and other deposits keeps the town working to reach a pH level between 7 and 7.5.

Discussion Monday night followed a recommendation by independent contractor Eric Seib to accelerate what is normally a three-year contract after a 3-foot mound of sludge was discovered following a tank washout.

“I think we should do the park tank early,” said Seib. “We don't want to wait until next year, which would be the third year of the contract, to maintain it.”
