St. Jude ride starts Friday

The 20th Annual Saddle Up Trail Ride for St. Jude Children’s Hospital will start at 8 a.m. this Friday, April 6, through Sunday, April 8 at 328 Strength Lane in Frisco City, Ala.

The ride will kick off at 9 a.m. Friday morning and continue until all riders have returned to the starting point.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m., horse riders and wagons will depart and return at 3 p.m. Coffee will be provided at that time.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, bar-b-que plates will be available to the public for a donation. Checks should be payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

At 2:30 p.m., there will be a gospel singing leading up to an auction at 4 p.m., followed by a Buck Dancing Contest.

Around 8 p.m., the Night Moves Band country singing and dance begins and the $100 first place award will be given to the buck dance contest winner at 8:30 p.m.

At 7 a.m., Sunday, April 9, breakfast will be served followed by an 8:30 a.m. church service.

At 10 a.m., horse riders and wagons depart to ride.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the event. Anyone who would like to donate an item to the auction is asked to bring it with them or call Buford Strength at 251-564-8321, Wayne Strength at 251-564-7809, Jennifer Strength at 251-564-1361, Chris Strength at 251-253-1721 or Lee Meritt at 251-363-9785 to schedule a pickup.

There will be local artists from around the county providing entertainmentand the public is invited to attend.

No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the event and all who attend this event do so at their own risk. The Strengths nor St. Jude hospital assumes any liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that may occur.

The ride last year raised more than $29,000. This year, the goal is $35,000.
