You can call her a town planner or whatever, but having Debbie Nickels involved in Century is wonderful.
We first Nickles back in the late 1980s when she was actually employed by the town of Century. We've watched her as she moved to the regional planning council and then to her own business – all the time helping to bring money and opportunities to the town of Flomaton.
Granted, Nickles gets paid for her services, but she brings a lot to the table. She understands Century. She understands the needs. She also understands how to get money for the town of Century.
She got caught up in a deal about the new apartment complex that prompted her to resign. She came back.
Century should be proud to have Debbie Nickels on its side.
Grants don't fall out of the air; housing rehabilitation doesn't fall out of the air any more than money to repair roads, sewer or water lines.
A Century family is about to have a new home built that was heavily damaged by the tornado. We not only credit the town of Century, but we give extra credit to Nickels for seeing this project through.
The town of Century has been blessed by people like Nickels and attorney Matt Danhessier for doing their jobs to make the town better for everyone.
