County will accept computers and more
As part of Alabama's Spring Clean Up campaign April 21 through April 28, the Escambia County Commission and the Escambia County Sheriff's Office are teaming up to offer a free electronics recycling program to allow residents to get rid of old computers, cell phones, televisions and other electronics.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, electronic equipment can be dropped off at the following locations: Atmore Farmer's Market across from city hall, the Flomaton Fire Department at 22475 Highway 31 and the Brewton Square Shopping Center between Subway and Farmers Home Furniture.
Commissioners stated Monday that the sheriff's office will have inmates at all three sites to help residents unload used electronics.
The event does not include appliances, tires or other items that are not deemed to be electronic components.
In addition to the electronics recycling, the commission is once again providing trash bags for residents and groups to pick up litter along roadways during the week of April 21. Fill the bags and leave them on the right-of-way for pickup.
Anyone in District 1 needing trash bags can call 251-867-0236. In District 2, contact Raymond Wiggins at 251-238-1606; in District 3, contact Larry White at 251-538-0472; in District 4, contact Brandon Smith at 251-359-4493; and in District 5, contact David Quarker at 251-238-0022.
