Leadership Atmore hosts first Chicken on Church event
Leadership Atmore Class of 2017, a group sponsored by the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, kicked off the first ever Chicken on Church event in Atmore, Thursday, April 12, on Church Street. The event is part of the class’s fundraising project.
Each year the class will organize events and fundraisers as part of an effort to raise money to put back into the community. Last year’s class raised money to purchase a bench that was placed in Heritage Park and donated money to the Atmore Community Fund. This year’s Chicken on Church event had the goal of reaching $2,000 for the Leadership Atmore’s class which they exceeded.
The chicken for the event was provided by South Alabama Vending and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company provided the beverages for the dinners. Plates were $20 and the public was given the choice for a to go plate or they could dine with other members of the community at a table that was set up on Church Street. Atmore Police department kept diners safe by setting up barricdes to block off a section of the street. Members of the Leadership Atmore class worked to serve the diners.
