Tires, oil, appliances can be disposed
Brewton and East Brewton will kickoff Earth Week this Saturday with its community wide Earth Day Cleanup to allow residents to get rid of a variety of items from old appliances to tires and automobile oil.
Cleanup efforts will continue countywide next week. The Escambia County Commission is providing trash bags for individuals or groups willing to pick up litter along roadways and will end with a free electronics recycling program next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Old electronics may be dumped from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26, April 27 and April 28 at Atmore Farmers Market across from city hall, the Flomaton Fire Department at 22475 Highway 31 and at the Brewton Heights Shopping Center between Subway and Farmers Home Furniture.
Residents needing trash bags can contact their county commissioner. Once the bag is filled, leave it on the right of way for pickup.
