A new, updated website for the Town of Century has been delayed a little longer following a request Monday night to table the council's decision to approve a bid from Municode, a Tallahassee-based company that, according to their website, creates products and solutions that promote transparency, efficiency and that enable you to more effectively serve staff and citizens.
Councilwoman Ann Brooks questioned one of the paragraphs in the agreement of services contract presented at the meeting and asked to table it so the council can get clarification. The council agreed.
In other business, Town Planner Debbie Nickles made a recommendation the council approve the submittal of a fiscal year 2017-2018 Community Planning Technical Assistance grant in order to complete the update of the current Land Development Code.
Nickles said the town received one of these types of grants in 2016-2017 to update a portion of the Town's Land Development Code. As a result, five chapters were updated.
“The land development code was adopted in 1991 and no changes had been made to it since thaat time until the town received the grant,” said Nickles. “Hopefully, if they receive this grant, it will update the land development codes. Developing land is really a constant thing. It's just time to update it. The sign ordinance is a part of the land development code, and there are plans to update the signage around the town of Century eventually, which will help beautify the town.”
