Charles David “Bud” Herndon, 73, of the Barnetts Crossroads community, died Friday, May 19,, 2018 at a Mobile hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Herndon was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Ala. and retired from Alabama River Pulp mill in the maintenance department. Owner and operator of Bud and Jean's Country Store in Barnetts Crossroads with his wife, he was a member of both the New Bethlehem Baptist Church and the Carney Masonic Lodge #549 in Atmore.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Richburg and Pastor Norman Washington officiating. Burial followed at New Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Mr. Herndon is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jean McDuffie Herndon of Brewton; one son, David (Robyn) Herndon of Brewton; two daughters, Stephanie (Terry) Still of McCullough and Kelli (David) Carter of Brewton; one sister, Cecelia (Ray) Jones of Bay Minette; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
Mr. Herndon was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Scott Herndon; his mother, Myrtle Mooney; and other extended family members.
