Brewton man jailed on multiple charges including crack cocaine, prescription drugs, meth
A Brewton man is facing drug possession charges and a charge of trafficking crystal methamphetamine after Escambia County (Ala.) sheriff's deputies conducted a check on a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Rock Hill Assembly of God Church on Ridge Road about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Darren LeMare Green, 49, was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and trafficking meth. His bond had not been set as of press time Wednesday.
According the sheriff's office reports, deputies were transporting another suspect to jail Tuesday night when they observed a white SUV in the church's parking lot.
The deputy following the other deputy who had the suspect, turned around to check on the vehicle. When he got back to the church, there were two vehicles parked side by side.
The driver of one vehicle gave consent to search and a drug dog detected no illegal drugs.
Deputies reported when Green exited the vehicle they noticed a pill bottle under his arm pit. The bottle contained hydrocodone pills. A plastic coffee cup was also found in the vehicle that contained crack cocaine, methamphetamine and other prescription pills.
Green's vehicle and $1,118 cash were seized and he was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
