Joanna Jackson Cunningham, died Thursday, May 10, 2018.
Mrs. Cunningham was born Feb. 26, 1950 to James and Arine Jackson. She moved to Detroit, Mich. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, she relocated to Detroit, Mich. She later returned to Brewton and earned her license as a CNA, working in the healthcare for more than 30 years. A member of Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church, she later joined the Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. William Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by two daughters, Angela (David) Stanley and Tonya Jackson, both of Brewton; her mother, Arine Jackson; two brothers, James R. (Carrie) Jackson, Jr. and William M. (Betty) Jackson, both of August, Ga.; four sisters, Helen Elizabeth Floyd, Hermine (manuel) Hall, Cassandra Jackson Hendrieth and Sharon (Ronnie) Collins, all of Brewton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cunningham, Sr.; one son, Rodney Lanier; her father, James R. Jackson, Sr.; one brother, John E. Jackson; and numerous other family members.
