Brazille says meth is now ‘the drug of choice’
Over the past few months, the East Brewton Police Department has arrested multiple people on drug charges with the majority going to jail for possessing methamphetamine.
“It's the drug of choice,” said East Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazille. “We're working every day to keep it off the streets. We've got two K-9s here that are doing an awesome job.”
Like other law enforcement officials, Brazille said meth has become an epidemic. He said officers don't find any of the old 'shake and bake' homemade meth anymore; it's pure meth being shipped in from places like Mexico.
“The crack dealers are now meth dealers,” Brazille said. “They're keeping up with the times and we're keeping up with times as well.”
Brazille said there is still crack and spice on the streets, but more and more it's meth.
