Three council seats up for election; Riley will not seek re-election
Any registered voter living in the town of Century who seeks to qualify for the upcoming municipal election on August 28, 2018, can qualify from 12 p.m., Monday, June 18, until 12 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018.
A runoff election, if necessary, and general election, where there are only two candidates running, will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018.
Voters will see on the ballot council seat 3, currently held by incumbent Benjamin Boutwell, council seat 4, held by Gary Riley and council seat 5, held by incumbent Sandra McMurray Jackson. Riley will not seek re-election in January 2019. All three council seat terms expire January 2019.
Both Century Town Hall or the Supervisor of Elections Office, located at 213 Palafox Place, 2nd Floor, Pensacola, Fla., 32502 will accept the qualifying forms. Additionally, an elector may mail his or her qualifying forms to the Supervisor of Elections at P.O. Box 12601, Pensacola, Fla., 32591-2601. Mailed or hand-delivered qualifying forms will be accepted early beginning Monday, June 4, 2018 until no later than 12 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018.
A staff member from the Supervisor of Elections office will be in council chambers at Century Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 to receive qualifying forms.
The deadlines for voter registration dates are August 28, 2018 for the Primary Election, closing Monday, July 30, 2018; and Nov. 6, 2018 for the General Election, closing Oct. 9, 2018.
The Century Town Charter designates that candidates for offices shall be elected by a majority vote of the qualified electors voting in general nonpartisan elections.
