Lula “Laura” Lee Pettway Grimes, 93, of Atmore, died Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Mrs. Grimes was a native of Wilcox County, where she attended school. A farmer, she was a longtime resident of Atmore.
The funeral was held at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 9, at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Ceneter in Atmore with Apostle Tony McAroy officiating. Burial followed at Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by three sons, Willie (Pearlie) Pettway and Tony (Stephanie) Pettway, both of Atlanta, and Jesse (Anne) Pettway of Mobile; five daughters, Martha Johnson of California, Ruth Ford of Montgomery, Della Cooper and Laura Ann Pettway, both of Atmore, and Linda Pettway of Stockbridge, Ga.; one brother, Sandy Pettway of Camden; one sister, Lorine Pettway of Sylvia Springs, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members.
Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband; some of her children; her parents; and some of her siblings.
