Two jailed in attempted murder

An Atmore man and his girlfriend have been arrested on three counts of attempted murder with the male suspect accused of firing a gun into an occupied vehicle that contained two adults and a 7-year old child.

Labrandon Miquile Sharp, 33, 1620 Woods Road, Atmore, and Kendra Monick Williams, 37, 102 Perdido Road, Atmore, were both arrested following the June 14 shooting.

Williams was arrested the day of the shooting and was released on $50,000 bond on June 19. Sharp turned himself in at the Escambia County Sheriff's Office June 18 on the three attempted murder charges and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He was scheduled to appear before District Judge Jeff White Wednesday afternoon for a bond hearing.

According to reports released by the Atmore Police Department, police were dispatched about 5:30 p.m. on June 14 to the 300 block of Montgomery Street in response to a subject discharging a weapon into a vehicle.

When officers arrived they discovered the shots were fired into the vehicle that contained two adults and a child. The shooting apparently occurred at the intersection of North Main Street and Liberty Street. None of the occupants of the vehicle were injured.

The victims told officers that after the shooting they fled to a residence on Montgomery Street to get away from the offender and to notify the police. The victims said the offender, who they identified as Sharp, began firing into the vehicle after a brief verbal altercation between one of the vehicle occupants and Sharp.

Police learned Sharp left the area in a gold colored Chevrolet Malibu. Reports note minutes later the vehicle was spotted on South Canoe Road and officers with the Atmore Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop.

The lone occupant in the vehicle was identified as Williams. Police reports note Williams told officers that she had just swapped vehicles with Sharp before being stopped. Williams was then arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Police Chief Chuck Brooks said those charges stemmed from Williams assisting Sharp in getting away.

Sharp later turned himself in at the sheriff's office.
