Guilty of abusing young boys
Barring a successful appeal, Charles 'Chuck' Calvin McMullen will spend the rest of his life in prison after a Santa Rosa County judge sentenced the former law enforcement officer to eight consecutive life terms plus 15 years for sexually abusing four young boys.
McMullen, a former Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office deputy, was working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement when he was arrested in November, 2016. McMullen worked for FDLE as a supervisor overseeing child sex crimes.
McMullen was originally arrested on two felony counts of sexual assault-battery of a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim less than 12 involving two young boys. A few days after McMullen's arrest became public, two more young boys came forward claiming McMullen had also sexually molested them. The four boys making the allegations were between the ages of 8 and 12.
On July 1 a Santa Rosa County jury found him guilty on nine counts of child sex crimes. McMullen was found guilty of one count of sexual battery of a child under the age of 12, one count of promoting sexual performance of a child and seven counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.
