In an Escambia County (Fla.) State Attorney press release, it was announced Tuesday that a grand jury returned an indictment for first degree premeditated murder and attempted first degree premeditated murder on Walnut Hill resident Christopher Alan Stacey.
The indictment pertains to the shooting at a residence in the 5900 block of Highway 164 in Walnut Hill that occurred Saturday, June 2, which lead to the arrest of Stacey, his son, and two others.
Law enforcement responded to the report of a dead male on Deer Creek Road in Atmore and discovered another male with a gunshot wound to the head had been transported to the hospital. The two victims, later identified as Dalton Davis and Troy Boutwell, were found shot. Boutwell survived multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was able to flag down a passing motorist and was transported to the hospital. Davis was pronounced dead on the scene.
Boutwell revealed to law enforcement that he had been inside the Highway 164 residence sitting on the couch when he was shot. Deputies discovered a couch with what looked like blood burning in the backyard of the residence.
Deputies conducted a protective sweep through the residence for any other victims or suspects when they observed, in plain view, an AR-15 rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun in separate bedrooms.
They also located a mattress on the side of the house and what appeared to be a bullet hole in an interior wall of the residence.
Stacey will be arraigned on Thursday, July 12. The investigation and arrests were conducted by the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. Assistant State Attorney Alvin “Trey” Myers will prosecute the case.
Also arrested in connection with this case were Stacey's son, 18-year-old Christopher James Logan Stacey, 21-year-old Alexis Shiffner Cain, and later, the ex-wife of Christopher Alan Stacey, 30-year-old Jessica Nichole Thomas.
