A Brewton man found passed out in his vehicle parked at Tri-County Speedway was arrested Saturday night after a deputy sheriff discovered spice inside the vehicle.
Terry Dewayne Beasley, 36, 5035 Hammac Road, Brewton, was charged with unlawful possession of synthetic cannaboids and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center.
According to reports from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Inv. Scott Tart was working a security detail at the racetrack when he saw a vehicle with the parking lights on and the driver's side door open. Tart approached the vehicle and reported finding Beasley passed out lying across the seat of the vehicle with his feet hanging out the driver's door.
Tart woke Beasley up and as he was moving around on the seat, Tart saw a partially-smoked hand-rolled cigarette lying in the seat. Tart reported Beasley attempted to hide the hand-rolled cigarette and appeared to be under the influence.
Beasley was removed from the vehicle and could hardly stand own his own without the assistance of leaning on the vehicle.
Inv. Tart leaned into the vehicle and looked on the center hump where Beasley had attempted to hide the cigarette and saw a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy material. He also found two packs of rolling papers and the partially smoked cigarette that contained the same substance that was found inside the bag.
The green leafy material tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids and Beasley was placed under arrest. Tart reported before transporting Beasley to the Escambia County Detention Center he learned Beasley's 13-year old son was inside the racetrack and had ridden there with Beasley. The report notes Beasley's father was called and he came and picked up his grandson.
Tart also reported Beasley was arrested on July 29, 2017 for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (spice) and that the case has not yet gone to court.
