Gerald Michael “Jerry” Bynum, 62, of Atmore, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018.
Mr. Bynum was born in Century and grew up in Atmore, where he was a member of the 1973 graduating class of Escambia County High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served for eight years. He worked assisting the Flowers family for many years.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Bishop Willie L. Williams and Bishop Darryl North officiating. Burial followed at Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Mr. Bynum is survived by his children, Gerald Michael Bynum, Jr., Shanela Holmes, Jelani Bynum and Taneisha Vaughan; four brothers, Willie “Billy” Bynum, Jr., Quinton Bynum, Vincent Bynum and Ericke Jason Bynum; four sisters, Ruthie (David) Deese, Kadren Bynum, Mary Ann Cottle and Martha Ingram; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members.
Mr. Bynum was preceded in death by his parents, Willie L. Bynum, Sr. and Mary Alice Bynum; one brother, Nelson Bynum; two sisters, Eloise Hooks and Linda “Judy” Bynum; and his grandparents.
