James E. Burkett, 67, of Atmore, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2018.
Mr. Burkett was born Nov. 18, 1950, to Comer and Lela Bruce Burkett in Atmore. He was retired after 29 years of service with the City of Atmore as a Supervisor of Public Works.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 20, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Allen Chase and Derek Gobert officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Burkett is survived by one son, Phillip (Miranda) Burkett of Dallas, Ga.; three daughters, Christina (Mark) McLure of Middleburg, Fla., Glenda (Bubba) Ardis of Atmore and Shan Shan Grace Burkett of Poarch, Ala.; five brothers, Gene Burkett, Wayne Burket, Johnny Burkett and Mike Burkett, all of Atmore, and Floyd Burkett of Nokomis, Ala.; four sisters, Ruby Sanspree, Francis Godwin and Shirley Boatwright, all of Atmore, and Claudia Powell of Perdido, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by one son, Sonny James Burkett; his parents; one brother, Tommy Burkett; and one sister, Cindy Burkett.
