Juanita “Nita” Hill Bell, 72, of Miami, formerly of Atmore, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at Jackson Communtiy Hospital in Miami.
Mrs. Bell was a native of Camden, Ala. who grew up in Atmore where she graduated from Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She later graduated from Alabama Lutheran Academy and College and then received her B.S. degree from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Neb. Upon graduation, she began teaching at Trinity Lutheran School in Montgomery, where she taught for more than 20 years. After relocating to Miami, she continued her teaching career at Mt. Olive Lutheran School and St. Paul Lutheran School, both in Miami. Recipient of The Ben Eggers Outstanding Lutheran Educator Award, presented by the Florida-Georgia Lutheran District, she received many awards and recognition of 25 and 30 years of ministering in Lutheran Education.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Atmore with Revs. Ulmer Marshall and Benjamin Stallworth, Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Mrs. Bell is survived by three brothers, Joe Richard (Bessie Mae) Hill of Atmore, Rogers (Irma) Martin of Camden and Randy (Angela) Martin of Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Barbara Ann (Herman) Williams of Detroit, Mich. and Elaine Martin and Geraldine Brown, both of Atmore; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” Bell; and her parents, William and Lizzie Mae Hill.
