County to rebid repairs

Questions over specs on repairs to courthouse

After concerns were aired by one contractor on the bids for emergency repairs at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton, the county commission withdrew the original bids and have now issued new bids on the project.

During an administrative workshop Tuesday, County Clerk-Administrator Tony Sanks said the new bids will be mailed next week and will be opened on Sept. 19.

Commission Chairman Raymond Wiggins did note that repairs to the leaking roof at the courthouse have been completed.

Road closed

County Engineer Bill Bridges also informed the commission that depending on the weather a portion of Butler Street will be closed for several days next week to replace a culvert.

Bridges said the road will be closed four to five days just south of Lee Pond Road. Anyone with questions can contact the engineer's office at 251-867-0236.
