Last Saturday, community members and residents joined members of the Flomaton United Methodist Church to honor those who are 90 and older and their families.
Delmer Tew, Pastor Kathleen McKinley and Flomaton Mayor Dewey Bondurant welcomed guests to the celebration and thanked everyone for coming to the event..
Musical entertainment was provided by “Joyful Sound,” a band from Ray’s Chapel and Larry White with WPFL Radio was on-site live, interviewing those being celebrated.
Emcee Delmer joined Danny White and Mayor Bondurant for a song with wife Irene Bondurant on the piano before everyone sang together songs of worship and praise.
A hot, delicious lunch and homemade dessert was provided and served by members of the church.Gift bags for everyone over 90 who attended were handed out, thanks to several local vendors and sponsors.
Locals Catharine Jeter and CoraHelen Brantley dazzled everyone with a dance of the “Charleston,” popularized in the 1920’s, to the tune ‘Has Anybody Seen My Gal?’, and those who attended had a chance to have their picture made in front of a lovely backdrop as Century’s Holly Driver played songs from the 1930’s.
Thank you to all the sponsors and community members who came out and celebrated our beloved residents who are 90 and over and their families. We appreciate your help in making this a memoriable and hopefully, an annual celebration.
