A Flomaton man was arrested Sept. 3 for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop for speeding on North Century Boulevard.
Shawn Earl Barrows, 39, Highway 31, was arrested and charged with one count felony driving while license is suspended third or subsequent offense when law enforcement stopped the vehicle he was driving for speeding, according to an Escambia County Sheriff's Office report.
An Escambia County Sheriff's deputy running radar at Bradley Street and North Century Boulevard observed a small silver two-door truck traveling northbound that appeared to be speeding. The radar indicated the vehicle was traveling at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone so the deputy conducted a traffic stop, the report said.
When the officer made contact with the driver, Barrows produced an Alabama ID card to identify himself when the officer requested license, registration and proof of insurance. The officer conducted a records check on his in-car computer and discovered Barrows did not have a valid Alabama driver's license but did have a suspended Florida driver's license which was suspended on 7/20/2010, with two prior convictions for driving while license suspended on 11/7/2001 and 3/23/2010, according to the report.
Barrows was arrested for driving while license suspended third or subsequent offense and transported to the Escambia County Jail where he was given a bond of $1,000.
