Final preparations are being made for Railroad Junction Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 in downtown Flomaton offering a fun-filled day of arts, crafts, entertainment and food.
The First Baptist Flomaton Student Ministry will kickoff the day at 7 a.m. with a 5-K run that will start and end at Flomaton First Baptist Church.
The entry fee for the run is $30 and registration forms are available at the church. Registration will be accepted on the day of the race. Race packets can be picked up beginning at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the race and the race will begin sharply at 7 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners and the top male and female in each age division that includes 14 and under; 15 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; and 60 and over.
The event is a fundraiser for the church's student ministry to raise money necessary to attend their summer mission project.
Boston butts
The Friendship Volunteer Fire Department will be selling Boston butts at Railroad Junction Day for $30 each. People can preorder their butts by calling 251-363-3408, 251-236-1483, or 251-363-3274.
Even if an order is not made in advance, butts will be available for sale during the day.
Robert Holt said the firemen will be cooking the meat all night and it will be fresh and hot that Saturday morning.
Car show
Registration for the annual car show will be $25, with the show beginning at 9 a.m. and awards to be given out at 2 p.m..
