A Jay man is facing felony drug charge after a routine traffic stop lead to a vehicle search where methamphetamine and marijuana were discovered.
Johnny Bruce Pyles, 38, 3837 Nowling Road, was arrested and charged with felony drug possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended after law enforcement stopped him for no tag light in Milton and a subsequent vehicle search revealed a bag of methamphetamine, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office report.
When law enforcement made contact with the suspect, dispatch confirmed that he had a suspended license and 4 previous DWLS convictions. Santa Rosa County dispatch also confirmed an active local warrant on the suspect, the report said.
At this time, the suspect was placed in handcuffs and in the back of the officer's patrol car.
A search of the vehicle revealed about 0.1 gram of methamphetamine in a magnetic case in the driver's side floorboard and about 1.5 grams of marijuana in a cigarette pack in the driver's side floorboard, according to the report.
When the suspect complained his handcuffs were too tight, the officer had him step out of the patrol car, and the officer then observed large chunks of methamphetamine in the back seat of the patrol car which had not been there before, the report stated.
The officer located a bag of methamphetamine under the suspect's foot. The office gathered up the methamphetamine in the back seat and placed it into the bag, the report said.
Pyles was arrested and transported to Santa Rosa County Jail and given a bond of $10,000.
