Carmen Ivie

Carmen Ivie, 80, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018.

Mr. Ivie was born Dec. 6, 1937, to James A. and Vidella Ivie in Provo, Utah. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he retired from Jefferson-Smurfit (Container Corporation) after 39 years. A painted and lettered signs for Exxon's oil wells and other various businesses. Known for his cartoon drawings and singing voice, he served as PTA president.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17, at Flomaton Funeral Home chapel with Dr. George Fredericks officiating. Burial followed at Poplar Dell Baptist Church Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Ivie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Sue Gandy Ivie; two sons, John (Gina) Ivie of Jay, Fla. and Joseph (Kathy) Ivie of Bosser City, La.; two daughters, Pam (Charles) Pawlonek of Russellville, Ark. and Malisa (Mark) Jackson of Milton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ivie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray Ivie; two sisters, Ruth Newell and Glenna Carlson; and one grandchild.
