Brewton Rodeo starts today at 6

While folks in this area are riding out another hurricane, get ready to watch your favorite cowboys ride out again at the Professional Cowboy Association's Rodeo with gates opening each night at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, through Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Brewton Municipal Arena, located at O'Bannon Park on 500 Sowell St. in Brewton.

The entrance fee for adults is $10 and children age 12 and under is $5 at the front gate.

Sponsored by the Greater Brewton Chamber of Commerce, there will be a mechanical bull, welcoming riders of all ages to try. There will also be children's activities for plenty of fun and concessions for sale with plenty of food.

Other events scheduled include the American Junior Rodeo Association's Junior Rodeo on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. for payment of entry fees, with the rodeo beginning at 10 a.m. The theme for junior riders is 'Tough Enough to Wear Pink' and after the rodeo, there will be a costume contest with riders and horses decorated.

On Sunday, Cowboy Church will begin at 8 a.m., with the rodeo beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday's theme is 'Wear your animal print'.

There will be more than $4,000 in prize money for professional cowboys and cowgirls competing to secure a place as one of the 15 finalists to qualify to go to the PCA finals held in January.

Trick riders will be there performing stunts to awe the crowd, including Victoria Wood, The Alabama Cowgirl, and her wild Nevada mustang, Fire.
