Drug and counterfeit bill charges for McDavid man

A McDavid man is facing drug and counterfeit charges after law enforcement responding to a report of a man slumped over in a vehicle at a gas station lead to a vehicle search, where counterfeit bills and drugs were discovered.

Travis Floyd Winters, 21, 20 Cotton Creek Rd., was arrested Oct. 4 and charged with one count each felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of counterfeited bill when law enforcement removed Winters from a vehicle Sept. 16, to find a small baggie containing a clear crystal like substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine and more than one counterfeit $100 bill on the vehicle seat and on Winter's person, according to an Escambia County Sheriff's Office report.

Responding to a call reporting a vehicle with a man slumped over from a gas Station on W. Michigan Ave. in Pensacola, law enforcement made contact with Winters and his passenger, Hunter Manning. The report said the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and told the passenger to get out. When the officer made contact with Winters, he discovered Winters was in need of medical attention. An EMS unit responded to the scene and transported Winters to Sacred heart hospital, according to the report.

Winters was arrested Oct. 4 and transported to the Escambia County Jail and given a bond of $2,000.
