Opened since April in downtown Jay, Opie's Kool Stop is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offering free movie nights on Fridays and Saturdays just across the street at Opie's Garden on a 20-foot by 14-foot big screen.
Owned by Lori Elder, Opie's is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays; and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays at its location at 5252 Commerce St.
On movie nights, Elder said just bring your lawn chair or blanket to watch a family movie that includes free popcorn while it lasts. Opie's Garden also has games for children and playground equipment.
“It's geared for children,” Elder said. “We've shown Pete's Dragon, O Brother Where Art Thou and more.”

Opie's menu has a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and wraps. In addition to its regular menu sandwiches that include the Reuben, Lancia Stratos, Testarossa, Tornado, Diablo, French Dip, Shrimp Po Boy and more, people can also build their own sandwich or wrap with a choice of up to eight meats and all the toppings. Herbs used for the sandwiches, wraps and salad are grown on site outside the restaurant.
All sandwiches come with a choice of fresh fruit or chips.
Traditional wrap sandwiches include Buffalo Chicken, Chicken or Steak fajita, Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad or ham, roast beef or turkey.
In addition to donuts and pastries, Opie's has a breakfast menu that includes an egg bowl, grits bowl, breakfast sandwiches and more.
Elder said she only serves fruit that is fresh during the season and everything is made fresh daily.
For those needing to watch their diet, Opie's carries a line of carb free and gluten free items.
Inside Opie's you will find a free juke box with songs that go back to 1956 and a kid zone that includes chalk for children to paint their magic on the floor.
Opie's also offers 3,000 flavors of milk shakes with 20 to 30 varieties of sugar and dairy free shakes, coffees and drinks.
