Sam Savage, 85, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018.
Mr. Savage was born Feb. 13, 1933, to John Savage and Pinky Stewart in Wilcox, County, Ala. The youngest of 13, he worked as a construction worker in California, where he eventually retired. Returning to Brewton, he met Lillian Savage and they wed in 1993. A deacon and 15-year member of the usher board at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church, he loved fishing.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Daily officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Savage is survived by his wife, Ruth Savage; two sons, Sammy Lee Savage and Wiggins (Dorothy Grace) Washington, Jr.; one daughter, Jean Marie (David) Deeds; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.
Mr. Savage was preceded in death by his parents.
