With fall weather around the corner, area festivals and events are under way to welcome the season, beginning with Brewton's Cold Moon Festival this Saturday and winding up with Flomaton Elementary School's Fall Festival November 17.
Brewton
The city of Brewton's Trick or Treat will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The Cold Moon Festival will be at Market Park beginning at 6 p.m., this Saturday, Oct. 20, featuring vendors. Bill Peavy will perform at 6 p.m., then the Mulligan Brothers from 8 to 10 p.m. Market Park is located at 205 Belleville Ave.
The Haunted Trail starts at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Jennings Park. Admission is $3 person, $10 for a family. Appropriate for ages 5 and up.
The Velloween event will start about 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at O'Bannon Park. There will be Trunk or Treat, featuring local businesses giving away candy and a kid's costume contest. About 8 p.m., Love is War will play and the Velcro Pygmies will play sometime between 9 and 9:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Bossman Productions and Jim Peach Motors and Peach Chevrolet.
The Escambia County Habitat for Humanity is hosting the first Zombie Walk and Auction with packet pick-up for walkers at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 at Jennings Park in Brewton. According to Lisa Tindell, executive director of Escambia County Habitat for Humanity, the event is gearing up to be more than just a walk through the park.Registration for the walk is $15 for adults or $10 for students 18 and under. For the costume contest, the registration is $10 for everyone.
Atmore
The 27th annual Williams Station Day starts at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, on Main Street. There will be local and regional art vendors at this family-friendly event. Also, there will be train rides for the kids, a classic car show, a student art show, an amateur photography contest, an old fashion hayride, and much more! Jay
Jay's family-friendly Trick or Treat on Commerce Street will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30. Booths open at 5 p.m. and there will be a kid's costume contest at 6:30 p.m.
Pollard McCall
The Hugh White Fall Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3. There will be various games and food, including a cake auction at 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Pollard-McCall PTO.
There will be hamburgers, hot dogs and cotton candy for sale and activities include a cake walk, a bingo room, bouncy houses, hayride, lots of other activities and games for the kids.
Flomaton
Turtle Point Haunted Boardwalk will be from 5:30 until about 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27. May not be suitable for children age 10, and under but there will be other activities include cupcake walk, art activity and games. Admission is $2 per person or one item non-perishable food item.
The Flomaton High School LEOs will be the ghoulies and ghosts on the boardwalk.
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, Flomaton High School will sponsor a trick or treat in the streets of downtown Floaton, featuring festival games, costume contest, candy, and lots of family-friendly activities.
The FHS Band Boosters will be selling funnel cakes and popcorn, snow cones and drinks. Proceeds go to the Band Boosters to help the Flomaton High School band.
Flomaton Elementary School will host a fall festival from 1 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, on the playground and field across the street. The event is open to all kids and the general public.
It is a fundraiser for the school, and every class will host a specific game. Tickets can be purchased for $1 and for 50 cents. Each class charges what they want. Whoever turns in the most money will be awarded a field trip and pizza party.
Games include musical chairs, corn hole, face-painting, Nerf ball throw, a cake auction, a cupcake walk a photo booth, a bounce house, football toss, pumpkin bowling and others. The PTO will be selling snacks like cotton candy and drinks. There will be funnel cakes also. The community is invited to the family-friendly event
