Mary Alice Peterson, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 in Pensacola.
Mrs. Peterson was a native of Canoe, Ala. who had resided in Bratt, Fla., since 1975. A Navy wife who lived at various duty stations around the country, she was a member and Sunday School teacher at the Bratt First Baptist Church, where she filled various positions. She had served the community as a softball coach and Girl Scout leader.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m., Wednesdaym Oct. 17, at the Bratt First Baptist Church with Rev. Delbert Redditt officiating. Burial followed at Gdowin Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland D. “Pete” Peterson of Bratt; one son, Gregory “Greg” (Tracy Ann) Peterson of Decatur, Tenn.; two daughters, Janice Ann Peterson (David) Coleman of Bratt and Karen Peterson (Dave) Tibbals of Perdido Key, Fla.; two brothers, James Edward (Sherrye) Gilman and Robert Earl (Gloria) Gilman, both of Bratt; four sisters, Geraldine Godwin, Willie-Jean (Alton) Edwards, Betty Lou (Fred) Moore and Patricia (Rick) Gregory, all of Bratt; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myra Gilman; one brother, Luther J. “Junior” Gilman; and one sister, Helen Wolfe.
