A blood test will determine if the driver of a motorcycle driver riding with a cup of whiskey was under the influence after his cycle plowed into the rear of another vehicle attempting to turn into Flomaton Woods Apartments on Oct. 13.
Flomaton police, fire and ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 31 and the entrance of Flomaton Woods Apartments at 2:53 p.m. in reference to a crash.
According to police reports, Nerissa Shntelle McKinney of Flomaton was heading west on Highway 31 and stopped to make a left turn into the apartment complex. Witnesses told police a vehicle behind McKinney went around her vehicle on the right shoulder.
Fredrick Lavell Rouse, 63, of Orange Beach was behind McKinney driving a 2014 Honda motorcycle, was also traveling west and told officers when the other vehicle went around McKinney's vehicle he didn't have time to stop. He said he rolled off his motorcycle that then plowed into the rear of McKinney's vehicle.
The police report noted witnesses confirmed the accounts of the accident.
Flomaton Police Inv. Chance Thompson reported when he got to the scene, he noticed a Yeti cup that contained a strong odor of alcohol. When Rouse was asked about the cup he told Thompson it was Wild Turkey honey. Rouse consented to a blood test, but those results have not been returned.
Rouse was transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton and McKinney was transported to Jay Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
